As VP Engineering (Vice President of Engineering), you'll lead our talented engineering organization through an exciting growth phase, driving technical excellence while maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance in medical device software. The current team is composed of:

  • A dozen on site employee (front & back) in Montpellier
  • 2 freelancers
  • A near-shore (Serbia) teams compose of 3 dev plan to grow to 8 over 2026
  • Responsibilities :
  • Lead and manage Frontend & Backend engineering teams to deliver high-quality genomic analysis software solutions for clinical applications in oncology and rare diseases
  • Define and execute the engineering strategy in alignment with SeqOne's mission to make personalized medicine accessible to all patients, everywhere
  • Ensure the scalability, reliability, and performance of the SeqOne Platform (CE-IVD Class C certified medical device software)
  • Drive operational excellence, velocity, and technical innovation across engineering teams
  • Collaborate with Product, Science(Data & BioInformatics), DevOps and Quality/Regulatory teams to ensure timely delivery of features while maintaining compliance with ISO 13485, ISO 27001, IVDR, and other regulatory requirements
  • Build, mentor, and retain high-performing engineering talent to support company growth
  • Own the technical roadmap and architectural decisions in relation with the VP of Architecture for the platform's evolution
  • Main tasks carried out :
  • Manage and coordinate engineering Frontend & Backend teams in sync with BioCore (platform scalability and APIs), BioOps (release management and automation), and Technology Services (infrastructure and security)
  • Oversee the development of the SeqOne Platform built on Golang backend, Angular frontend, and PostgreSQL database, deployed on AWS & Kubernetes infrastructure and on-premise
  • Ensure robust CI/CD practices, release management processes, and continuous deployment capabilities to support rapid innovation
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration between Engineering, Product Owners, Bioinformatics, Data Science, UX, and QA teams
  • Implement and monitor engineering KPIs including sprint completion rates, code quality metrics, deployment frequency, and system reliability (explore best practices, DORA or other metrics)
  • Lead technical due diligence and integration efforts for partnerships and acquisitions
  • Ensure adherence to medical device software development standards (IEC 62304) and maintain quality management system compliance
  • Participate in strategic planning and contribute to the Leadership Team's decision-making
  • Manage engineering budget, resource allocation, and capacity planning to meet business objectives
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and technical excellence
  • Qualifications
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, or related technical field
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience with at least 5 years in senior engineering leadership roles
  • Proven experience in healthcare technology, life sciences, or regulated industries (medical device software development preferred)
  • Strong understanding of cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and modern software development practices
  • Experience with agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and continuous delivery
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for medical device software (ISO 13485, IEC 62304, IVDR) is highly desirable

Technical Skills:

  • Deep expertise in SaaS software architecture, distributed systems, and cloud-native applications
  • Proficiency in modern technology stacks (backend: Golang, Python; frontend: Angular; databases: PostgreSQL; infrastructure: Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Strong understanding of genomics, bioinformatics pipelines, or NGS data analysis is a plus
  • Experience with AI/ML integration and data-intensive applications
  • Knowledge of information security standards (ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From 70,000.00€ per year

Work Location: Hybrid remote in 34000 Montpellier
